SolidWorks: Not refreshing the 3DExperience pane

Solidworks for Makers, Hotfix 4.5
Lenovo ThinkpadX230, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz (Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics)

Clicking the 3DExperience icon, to show the panel:

Expected:

• The pane would be fully rendered

Actual:

• as per the screenshot

Work-around

Resize the panel slightly; this will cause a refresh
