A couple feature ideas #212

Hey!

I’m not a coder or anything so I’m not sure if these are realistic or not, but I figured I’d throw them out there anyways.

So I’ve played through probably 150 seasons across multiple saves with Coach mode, so if any of these are already features in school mode and I’m just ignorant then I apologize. I really like to immerse myself in the stats and see trends and organic storylines emerge in ways they wouldn’t otherwise if you were just simulating season after season trying to see what outrageous recruiting class you could get or how many TDs your 102 overall QB can throw, etc.

1) That being said it would be really cool to be able to choose who goes into your Team’s Ring of Honor. I’ve had multiple team members who were 4 year starters, saw us through some very low lows and guided us to incredible rebound seasons. They don’t always get inducted into the Ring of Honor, and when their records get broken there’s no other way that I know of to go back and look them up.

2) I find the recruiting and transfer portions of the off-season to be way too easy and exploitable. For some reason players who have no offers seem to come in chunks, so I’ll see a 5 star player with no offers, then it always seems that the next consecutive 2 or 3 players also have no offers. It’s very easy to bolster a recruiting class this way, and was almost single handedly how I was able to win with American Samoa on Hard mode. There’s also no real challenge once you have enough recruiting points as any player whose prestige threshold you meet will sign with you if you just do all three recruiting options in order, then offer a scholarship. It’s also impossible to increase a player’s interest if you offer the scholarship first and then attempt to do some recruiting. I feel like other schools should be able to pull more sway on your recruits just like you’re able to do to their recruits. Not sure if that’s possible? But it would be cool to get a notification when you advance the week saying something like “Recruiting Battle: Gainseville tops John Smith’s school choice”. Then we really have to invest time and points into who we want the most instead of just cheesing to get a “Strong” interest and knowing they’ll go to our school if we just offer a scholarship.

That’s really all I can think of right now, but legitimately this is such an amazing app. I play it in my downtime constantly haha

Thanks for the feedback!

Honestly, I consider getting to this point "beating the game". There's not much more I can do to increase difficulty once you figure out the patterns of the game and have enough recruiting points to out-recruit any other program.

It’s also impossible to increase a player’s interest if you offer the scholarship first and then attempt to do some recruiting.

I've seen this mentioned before, but I'm not seeing this in my testing. I'll take a closer look though.

This is actually already supported, but only during in-season recruiting. I'll add support for these headlines during the offseason in a future release. Thanks for the suggestion!
