Images don't load #18

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Installing phppi
2.Loading Sample Folder

Sometimes an image loads and loads but nothing happens

What version of PHPPI are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.1

PHPPI looks really great! When do you release the next version?
Would be great if it was possible to remove numbers from folder names (like
003_) and to hide underscores in folder names.

Best regards,
Christoph

It's been a while since I used v1.1.1 (been working on 1.2.0 for a while). But
I believe it loads the image and then displays using javascript. Make sure
javascript is enabled. Otherwise i'll have to check it out and possibly add in
a way to turn off that feature.

Javascript is enabled. Do you have a beta of the next version and when do
you think the final will be released? Great work! Best regards, Christoph

No beta unfortunately. I'm hoping not too long. The next release includes a
first time setup feature and i'm just working on the saving the settings part.
After that it should be pretty much right to go.

I noticed you had that install of PHPPI visible on the net, is it possible for
you to re-host it so I can see if it does the same for me? Just in case it's
your install because i've never had the issue myself.

The next problem is: I've uploaded a test folder with one image inside it, but
it is not shown.

Best regards,
Christoph

Just checked the site, the images are loading ok for me with firefox. So I may
need to add in an option to turn off the javascript to show full view images
just incase that's the problem you're getting.

The test folder isn't appearing because you probably viewed the site before
adding it. This would've cached the folder/file listing as so. You'll need to
either wait until the cache expires (see your settings file) or delete the
cache.xml file for the relevant folder inside the phppi/cache folder.

I don't know what's the concrete problem, the images load correctly for the
most time, but some times - sporadically - the loading animation freezes.

That would indicate to me that something is aborting the page load. Usually if
you cancel a page load (such as pressing escape while the page is loading) it
will cause things like animated gifs (loading animation) to pause and not load
anything else. I just tested this on your site by pressing escape while an
image was loading, this caused the loading animation to pause and the full view
image never loaded.

Possibly try another browser or another pc and see if it still occurs.

Maybe its just a problem with chrome, have you tested it? Best regards.

I have another idea: My virus scanner could have been responsive for the
stopping of the loading process. Every time an new picture is loaded, the tray
icon of Avast Antivirus rotates. Today there was an update of the software and
since then I haven't seen phpi freeze anymore.

Very strange, I don't use avast personally so possibly. I'll do some more
testing with other browsers anyway.
