Feature request: Better connectability between stops.txt and trips.txt and routes.txt #290

Attempting to write various frontends with GTFS data, and I'm finding it 
difficult to connect particular pieces of data.

For example, I can present to the user a list of of routes and from there they 
can choose specific trips (the "Headsign" attribute in trips.txt) but from 
there there's really no way to break it down to specific stops.

I'd like to suggest that stops.txt gets the additional attributes of route_id 
and maybe even trip_id to make it easier to connect those three pieces of data 
together.

This is more of a request for changing the GTFS spec, as opposed to changing 
the GTFS tools hosted here.  If you are still interested in adding features 
like this to the spec, I'd suggest posting a request to GTFS-changes - 
https://sites.google.com/site/gtfschanges/
