The url works in another browser without authenication.

Do you have a concrete example, like an RSS file or a concrete URL that actually works? I don't know where to get a proper URL.

I unfortunately cannot provide a url as it is personal per user, but inline is the browser view source from my url. If I do a wget I get binary. ? If you are on facebook click on your notifications popout and click "see all notifications" at bottom. The page that opens will have a RSS link to your own messages at the top.

OK, thanks, I can now reproduce the problem.

The root cause for this is that Facebook does browser sniffing by inspecting the User-Agent string, and if it doesn't match a supported browser, Facebook returns an HTML page saying something like "we're not cool enough to support your browser." You can fix this problem by faking the User-Agent string. In the newsbeuter configuration, just add a line like this:

user-agent "Mozilla/5.001 (windows; U; NT4.0; en-US; rv:1.0) Gecko/25250101"

That should make the Facebook RSS feed work.
