This is mainly a question to @akrennmair, but anyone knowledgeable in the matter is welcome, as always.
Both README and doc/newsbeuter.txt claim that Newsbeuter doesn't support NetBSD. zechfdf on IRC just brought it to my attention that Newsbeuter is now on pkgsrc.se and seem to be usable under NetBSD. Indeed, he even went on and asked some NetBSD people to check, and they confirmed that Newsbeuter builds and successfully displays non-English text:
So the question is: what are those "limitations of iconv()" mentioned in the docs?
I've looked through manpages for NetBSD 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 and I don't see anything that would prevent Newsbeuter from behaving correctly (and there weren't any changes to the man page in between releases.) My guess is that this has to do with the fact that //TRANSLIT apparently isn't supported, but I don't see that as reason enough to withdraw support.
