Copied from Lighthouse (not sure if this is relevant right here): A partner organisation contacted us with the suggestion that we should have a security certificate on the akvo.org server. Particularly when clicking on the "Donate" button.
We are working on implementing this feature. Not that it actually increases any security around money transactions, as no transaction takes place directly on our servers. No credit card details are left with us and no information that needs to be kept secure, like bank information, is held on our servers.
But the suggestion was that some users, who are unfamiliar with how money transactions actually happen on the internet may feel uncomfortable with entering a value for money to donate on a web page, which doesn't show the padlock feature, which you get when you have a secure connection.
It is a valid point and we are working on getting security connections set up for certain parts of the site, even if the only benefit is to make people feel better, as there is no better security for the actual money transactions.

Current to do items:
As I gathered from the description, the issue was raised mainly in relation to 'Donate' button. As we are planning to remove 'Donate' button in the future and just provide a link to organisation's website for donation instead, is this issue still relevant?

As a side note, the donation library used in RSR is out of date and deprecated by a native Python library provided by Mollie themselves. If the Donate buttons are being removed then this is, of course, no longer an issue also. If you'd like me to write a separate issue for this, let me know @nadiagorchakova
Thanks @peeb for flagging this issue! The plan is to remove the Donate button in September, so no need for a separate issue.

Expansion of this should be included here.
