[16/06/2015 18:54:17] Gabe Brady: using standard social sharing button widgets involves loading a bunch of third party javascript code from facebook, twitter et al. This lets them track user behavior and makes things slower. My instinct would be to make our own sharing widgets with javascript, but this will be a bit more work. [16/06/2015 18:54:51] Gabe Brady: Is it important to be able to show how many likes or tweets a page has? Third part code is probably necessary for that functionality [16/06/2015 19:09:53] Jo Pratt: THanks, Gabe. It would be nice to know and track that, but I don't think we necessarily need to show it on the site (just my view) [16/06/2015 19:21:53] Gabe Brady: Sure, it's possible to track it without using the 3rd party code, just not display it on the site [17/06/2015 07:55:32] Lynn Dawn Greenwood: @gabe there is a slimmed down version of social media buttons I saw an article on it recently [17/06/2015 07:59:18] Lynn Dawn Greenwood: think they suggest using a plugin to avoid it being so heavy such as these http://www.narga.net/25-useful-jquery-social-share-plugins/
