Flaws in the attendee’s overall time spent during the meeting. #42

There’s some error in the overall tracking of time of the attendees.

Elaborately, it is showing inaccurate data, like in the attendance graph, first there’s a green horizontal bar in front of the attendee’s name and then a huge white horizontal bar denoting that the attendee has left the meeting after attending for a while. (Highlighted with yellow colour in attached screenshot).

But the issue is that the attendee was present throughout the meeting, and yet it is showing that the attendee has left in between. Please suggest what could be the possible error or if there is a flaw in the extension? Alot of teachers have been facing the same issue (Also refer to this thread on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Teachers/comments/idwp5e/virtual_teachers_how_are_you_taking_attendance/)

It is a sincere request if you could resolve it as soon as possible because this is how all the teacher’s are recording attendance of students and it gets very difficult for the students to prove it to them that they were present throughout the class and that the google attendance extension is showing inaccurate results. Thank you.

I posted a (long-winded) response to reddit... thank you for bring that to my attention

I cannot tell you why the student seems to have left the meeting... the most likely causes that I've seen recently are a) you do not have Grid View (fix) installed and running b) the Show only participants with video option is selected in the menu c) the student left the Meet (intentionally or accidentally) d) sh*tty coding by Al e) other

With regards to c), I've found that if you join a Meet using an app on your phone and then change to a different app, you fall-out of the Meet (whether or not you can still hear what's going on in the Meet)

Without more data, it is hard to tell what went wrong

@riyanimbekar It's a little hard to tell, but it looks like there are never more than 16 students present at once, which indicates that Google Meet's Tiled view is being used, which only shows up to 16 students. My guess is that the ones who are listed as present could be the ones who had spoken or otherwise made noise (thus becoming the focus) most recently when the attendance was captured. This way, the most silent ones would rarely be displayed, and thus would not be counted as present. Maybe see if that tracks with what happened in that class?
