how did you connect to that device? via the gateway or just direct BLE?
edit: try the passive BLE monitor integration
I connect via gateway. The thing is that it use to work flawlessly before and one day I noticed that it doesn't update anymore. Other sensors work, only this the illumination sensor does not. In its app sensor is working as it should. Never tried the passive BLE, but I`ll give it a try, if does not require hard resetting ore complex setup.
edit: installed "Passive BLE monitor" and nothing happens.
I am running VM on a dedicated mini PC with Win7. Everything was running perfect for almost 2 years with this setup. Obviously something broke between HA and "Xiaomi Miot Auto" integration after one of the countless updates... I prefer not to fiddle with my setup just because of one sensor. My point was if somebody who is using this Xiaomi Illumination Sensor and hat this problem, could point me to the right steps of fixing it.
P.S. tried the "Xiaomi Gateway 3" integration and same result-no working Illumination Sensor
I have the same issue. Anybody found out how to repair it? In the past, sensor worked without any issue.

After installing "HomeKit Device" integration it discovered my Light detection sensor, my motion sensor and Xiaomi HUB. After this my light sensor started working as before. I use the entity from HomeKit Device without any problem. Hope it fixes your problem as well.
I have tried also to purchase the xiaomi aqara m2 hub to add it via homekit integration. But also the aquara gateway did not recognised that light sensor. Which xiaomi hub do you use?
Hope this helps.

Finally, I was able to bring the entity via homekit integration. Thanks for suggestions.
Glad I could help🙂
