Revise homepage layout #302

Closed chrisdburr closed 4 months ago

Summary

The home page of the Assurance platform needs improvement and space for extra information.

Steps

chrisdburr commented 10 months ago

I think something like the following layout would be fine (no need for the parallax effect with the hero image) 👇

https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/

Sections could include:

  1. Navbar
  2. Hero image and title (CTA buttons)
  3. Value propositions and screenshots/images to help explain what the TEA platform is
  4. Quotes from users
  5. Further information / Get Involved
  6. Footer

@chrisdburr I'd imagine this would be a fairly easy task for OCC as well, if you'd be interested in adding this to the priorities?

chrisdburr commented 10 months ago

Good call. Yes, let's add it to the priorities.

kallewesterling commented 10 months ago

Added, thanks!

chrisdburr commented 10 months ago

Please use this illustration for the hero image and incorporate into the design:

To note here is also that you mentioned the video format of the illustration @chrisdburr -- just adding a note here so @WFrankishOCC can find it.

WFrankishOCC commented 10 months ago

Yep! An MP4 video should be useable as a background, but if possible I'd also like an svg copy of the static image.

kallewesterling commented 10 months ago

Perfect, @WFrankishOCC -- you found the issue I had intended to tag you in :)

chrisdburr commented 10 months ago

The mp4 can be found here: https://github.com/alan-turing-institute/turing-commons/blob/resources/resources/videos-and-animations/building-an-assurance-case.mp4

SVG is attached (can also send the original Adobe Illustrator file if needed).

See #220 for a homepage layout that has been put together.

@kallewesterling and @RichGriff, here is the revised copy for the home page section on 'What TEA offers':

I'd suggest removing the frequently asked questions bullet points and just having a CTA/button that takes them to a FAQ on our documentation site that we can update as necessary.

Finally, we will need to update the images with better example assurance cases. I'll put one together for a generic AI system and send it across.

@chrisdburr It looks like the above copy is now on the homepage, so I have gone ahead and created two separate issues based on your comments above. With the following two issues, I believe we can close this issue and go ahead and address those specifically:

Thanks. All good.
