[BUG] LaTeX Does not display in Fastpages

The Fastpages rendered stories do not correctly display LaTeX formatted text. Relevant issue on the fastpages repo.

Bug description

LaTeX formulae that display fine on notebooks do not show up correctly in Fastpages at the moment. The linked issue above indicates that math rendering via MathJax is supported, but we may need to configure something in the YAML setting or be sure we are using the latest version.

Expected behaviour

• Equations that render correctly in the base notebook (denoted via usual syntax on Jupyter Notebooks) also render on fastpages.

Actual behaviour

• Raw text between $ ... $ and $$ ... $$ still show up in the final story. See links below where there are errors.

How to reproduce

See the text in the COVID Lockdown and Election stories.

Thanks for reporting this @edaub. I updated the fastpages configuration and for me the issue is now fixed.

We did still get caught in the election story with a formatting bug. Inside an equation, we had a line break and the new line started with >, so the line (including half the equation) was formatted as a quote. I fixed this manually in the notebook in the fastpages repository: https://github.com/alan-turing-institute/TuringDataStories-fastpages/commit/5d1db94c7f39e78161d2f3ad16e384a22085b4f7.
