Paper write up/options #78

Open helendduncan opened 7 months ago

helendduncan commented 7 months ago

This issue is to discuss potential publishing options for the repo/project and will fall under the PIs discretion.

From previous meetings things which were discussed Dissemination outside of CRAN. F1000? JOSS? (will need to be public before publishing)

Based on the last meeting discussion, I think we came down fairly heavily in favour of JOSS and I'm happy with that personally. @catavallejos and I can write the motivating stuff for the short paper component, and we can probably pull together the existing Quarto based examples, so I don't think initial submission would be too much work. It would be more following through the review process, which naturally would fall substantially on @helendduncan and @yongrenjie

Yes, happy to go for JOSS and the plan suggested by @louisaslett above

Just adding update note from meeting today that the plan is for @catavallejos and @louisaslett to start writing the short JOSS paper in early June. At that time @crangelsmith will send a poll for meeting in 2nd half of June to discuss it and prep submission.

Agreement that @catavallejos and @louisaslett handle peer review responses around the written paper and @crangelsmith coordinates peer review responses around code.
