I'll message REG comms to see if they are interested in being looped in, and then email REG soliciting instances of upstream contributions that could be cited in the blog post. We'll only ask people to mention suitable cases, chase them to talk about them in more detail after.
Does this mean just "upstream contributions we do as part of work", or does it also include "upstream contributions we do in our own time"?
Good question. @gedankenstuecke, what are your thoughts?
I think the focus here is on upstream contributions REG/The Turing is enabling. So, part of work including 22-days, hack weeks, community engagements you came to through work.
For example, I think reviewing JOSS submissions counts because that came about through the REG network and you could (did?) use 22-days time.
That said, it would be really good to have awareness of what everyone is involved in generally if they are happy to share.
I’m with @JimMadge on that one! I think it’d mainly be the contributions made in relation to Turing work.
Beyond what Jim outlines of particular interest could be “as part of REG working on a Turing project we did work on upstream library X that this project uses, solving our own problem but also the one of everyone else” 😊
My mind totally blanked on this during the meeting today, this was one question I would have had – if I had remembered 😂
What are the next steps we need to take on this? :)
We had a chat with comms in late November, and I think the next step would to draft a new version of the post with their feedback in mind. So far no one of us has gotten to it. I'll ping you in the relevant slack thread.
gotcha, thanks!

@JimMadge tells us that TPS is "looking to make a blog post about REG upstream contributions (We should collect some good examples!)". Bastian is the contact. One of us could be the REG person on this, collecting examples and helping with writing.
