Community Research: building tools & practices

This repository aims to draw from the work of other community managers embedded across the Alan Turing Institute. The hope is that some of these collective learnigs will be applied within The Turing Way (as the primary CM for the project), and as documented in this issue, or in the personal repo I made for this project.

What is community research?

Community research is much like research with people more broadly, but perhaps with certain, specific foundations: to start by working with communities and putting their knowledge first. Instead of approaching TTW deductively, it aims to be inductive. Some have called it community-based participatory research, comunity network research, community research, research ops or ethnography.

Hey @aleesteele, can you please provide 1-pager for community research? I shared your phase-1 community research. It would be great to have a simple workflow/list of how to approach this.

For instance, how to approach 1:1 with different team and community members, how to structure notes and find insights, what tools to use in mapping information, how to convert community research into documentation. Tagging @GabinWK to keep an eye of this discussion.
