MSFS helipads as start position #961

I would also like this. I use LNM mainly as a logbook. But when I fly helicopters from helipads it does not often seem to capture the helipad as the departure or arrival. It works fine if I fly helicopters only from airports, but I don't get good log record when flying from helipads. Similar to this I wish it was more robust for logging if it can't determine the airport or helipad, than it would be nice if it could use a generic identifier like "BUSH" or "OFF FIELD" instead of being blank for airport code. Same handling would be good for water takeoffs and landings if they don't correspond to a known water runway.

@joeaudette This issue is about flight plans but anyway: There is a limitation in the logbook which detects airports with runways only and not pure helipads. A generic ident is not needed IMO since the field is empty if nothing was found nearby at takeoff.

Do you see a helicopter symbol when flying heli in MSFS? I could adjust the runway detection depending on vehicle type. Created #1027 for further discussion

Answering my own question: Yes :slightly_smiling_face: This allows me to add a workaround for takeoff and landing detection.
