I guess numlock. Is this really an issue in Albert only?

Have you pressed a numpad key while recording the output above? What is this verr key exactly?
"verr num", I guess "num lock" on an English keyboard", my keyboard is in the french layout (AZERTY), but my OS is in English and so are my locales.
Here's a log with me trying to use the keypad :
To conclude, it feels like despite my keyboard being in num lock mode since the time my computer booted up, and that I can verify in other softwares that the keys from the keypad do produce numbers, Albert's prompt thinks the keyboard is not in num lock mode. When I hit the num lock key, Albert still thinks my keyboard is not in num lock mode. Only when I hit the num lock key a second time does Albert reads numbers when I use the keypad.
I hope this log and description will help with figuring this out.
Is there any command line option I can use to start Albert without any plugin and with default settings so that I can compare behaviors ?
Thank you for your time spent on that matter so far.
EDIT:
I remove the ~/.config/albert
directory and ~/.config/albert.conf
file, then started Albert with albert --plugin-dirs /tmp/whatever --debug
and Albert behaved exactly in the same way (although it did show the "first time" started popup message and settings window)
Might be related to albertlauncher/plugins#91 ?
That's nothing I touched sofar. Probably this is a Qt bug. Can you reproduce this in e. G. Vlc, virtualbox qalculate?
I tried qalculate from both the Flatpak (Qt UI) and binary (no sure if Qt) distributions, and I have no similar issue with the keypad. Should I also try to compile qalculate ?
just realized qalculate is qt5
this projet depends on Qt 6 isn't it ?
Yes. I meant maybe this is a regression in qt6.
The behavior I witness is similar to what's described in QTBUG-76881
I tried it on an arch system. No problems there
This is a minor issue, all other features of Albert are working as expected. If it only affects a minority of users, it may not be worth spending a lot of time on resolving it. There's a chance that a later update to Qt will fix it.
If I see that it is fixed later on, I will update this thread.
Thank you for the support so far ! :rocket:
Works just fine with the follow "settings":

Is this a thing that happens with the qml frontend as well?
Hi @ManuelSchneid3r, I'm not familiar with qml frontend. If you give me directions, I will be happy to try things out
Hello @thomasleveil , he is referring to this:
@ManuelSchneid3r Neither QML or Widgets change the behavior (i.e. it works) on my end, btw. Even with another keyboard from Keychron.
So, I upgraded to Albert 0.22.3. With "Widgets BoxModels" frontend, I have the same behavior as described in this issue. With "QML Box Model" frontend, I cannot enter any digit from the keypad whatever I do with the "num lock" key
Which kind of keyboard do you have and use for this?
keyboard from MSI laptop GT72VR 6RD
Alright, so it's not some kind of emulated numpad. Hm.
Description
Typing numbers from the keypad does not work right away. I have to hit the
Verr num
key twice to have keys from the keypad working in the Albert prompt. This only affects Albert, other softwares aren't having this issue.Expected behavior
typing numbers from the keypad works right away
