OPML files from netvibes,etc do not import/give error #24

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Get netvibes account
2. Add feeds like 
http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/technology/rss.xml
3. Export to OPML
4. Put on website.
5. Import the OPML

What is the expected output?
BBC Tech should be imported 
What do you see instead?
Nothing is imported.

The problem is that feeds added that are not in the netvibes menu do not 
have titles when put into OPML file as the netvibes takes the title from 
the feed.  Need allow option to take the title from the feed.

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

This is fixed on 1.10.5.  When importing select get missing titles.

Hi,

Thanks for the fix. This time we have a whole new problem.
This time when I say import feeds nothing happens... It just doesn't do 
anything. I
also tried uninstalling the application and installing it again on phone 
memory, that
didn't help either.

To your questions....This is all I can see..
Application memory used - 368kb
Application memory available - 430kb
DB memory used - 480
DB memory available - 30606336

I'm really sorry.  I introduced a bug.  My testing was not as complete as it 
should 
have been.  Import does not work at all on 1.10.5.  This is fixed in 1.10.6

Nope...
Still didn't work, it said importing and then just gave up. I even tried both 
the new
options you added under import feeds. That didn't help either. This could be 
because
I have way too many feeds. I'm going to remove some of the feeds and try with a 
cut
down opml file.
Give you feedback in a few hours.

Do you think it has anything to do with a podcast feed? I have podtech.net 
added to
my feeds. And netvibes supports hearing your podcasts.

Can you attach your OPML file again or the URL that you used?  Also, are you 
useing 
MIDP 1.0 version (midp10_) or MIDP 2.0 (midp20_)?  When you say add podtech.net 
you 
mean adding http://www.podtech.net/home/feed right?  Not literally 
http://www.podtech.net which is HTML.

I removed podtech, that didn't help either.
This is what I had for podtech - http://www.podtech.net/home/feed/

The URL for my OPML file - www.eprs.co.in/downloads/nv/rss-feeds.opml

I'm using MIDP20, Nokia N80.

Hi,

a typo?  I get 404 page not found.  Are you behind a firewall, that the N80 
cannot 
breach?  I get nothing imported and no error as OPML processor is not checking 
for 
file types, so it does not know that it is reading an HTML page telling that 
the 
page is not found.

Hi,

You are right. Dummy me, I didn't test the URL. Actually the URL is fine. I 
guess it
blocks the OPML file.
I don't know what to do now...I cant remove the .opml extension and try..that 
wont
work. I dont see another way of testing this. I guess I'm going to have to try
another domain to put my opml file.

Will get back after I try that.

Hi,

Actually, the code does not test the URL to see if it ends in opml to be more 
forgiving (also, URLs may be generated by PERL, etc so it's better not to go by 
that).  You could hide it with an XML suffix.  The RSS program only looks at 
the 
contents, so It may work if your web server is not looking at the contents.

for submitting your issue, I found a few bugs while investigating it that I 
fixed. 

I have not done it yet, but I'm investigating allowing the program to read from 
the 
file system (if JSR 75 is supported) which it is for the N80.

On another note, I'm having a problem with my N80.  It seems that if I lock the 
keyboard and then slide the slider open, the keyboard comes unlocked without me 
having to explicitly unlock it.  It becomes a problem when I remove it from my 
case 
and it moves ever so slightly (someone claimes that the magnatism of the case 
opening causes the N80 to think that it is being opened as well).  Anyway, the 
result is several hang ups on people causing problems.

Thanks for this. It looks good. I finally get to read my feeds. I'm sorry I 
know I'm
getting greedy now but can you also add a font option, as in reduce font 
size..? As
in small, normal & large..?

On the other note, yeah this is a bugging this about the N80, it opens up real 
easy.
Although I don't use a case/pouch I do have problems when I take it out of a
trouser/jeans pocket, it opens up and that means its answered a call and its 
even
more bugging if the number isn't a known number and saved in the phone. But the
magnetic thing sounds interesting. That was one thing that Nokia should have 
left as
an option on the phone to not disconnect the call when the phone is slid back.

Now coming back to the feeds, just noticed a problem, I'm having problems with 
my
feeds from Torrrentspy search.

To generate the problem..
1. Go to Torrentspy.com
2. Search for something eg. smallville
3. Right below where it says search results is a RSS feed button and it says 
"RSS
FEED FOR THESE RESULTS"...
4. Add that to your netvibes feed.
5. Import that feed into the mobile rss reader.

I keep getting "An error parsing feed on ...."
Any advice?

I don't know if I can duplicate this.  Now, torrentspy.com does not allow U.S. 
searches due to it's privacy policy.  It does not say why in it's blog, I think 
it's 
because U.S. justice dept, etc wants the right to seize user's search info 
without 
the user's consent.  Can you give me the URL to your OPML or attach it?  Are 
you 
saying that the torrentspy.com is imported by rss reader, but when you try to 
access 
it it does not work?

You are right, all searches made from the US are blocked at torrentspy.com...
What im saying is I have Torrentspy.com as one of the feeds in my reader and 
when I
click on it I get the error "An error parsing feed on %the url%

Can you be more specific?  When you say 'reader' do you mean the Mobile RSS 
Reader 
or the netvibes RSS Reader which you then export?  If it is importing OPML can 
you 
attach the OPML?  If it is with a torrentspy.com feed, can you go to it in IE 
and do 
save as to a file and attach it to your comment?

The OPML file which I attached, the OPML file for which I gave you the link, 
finally
got loaded in the mobile rss reader, but my feeds for torrentspy don't open 
(again on
the phone, mobile rss reader) I get the parsing error i spoke about above.

Thanks for clarifing.  Can you save the torrentspy blog as a file and attach it 
to a 
comment?  WHen I try to access the feed in your OPML, it says that US users 
cannot 
access and that's all I see, a single item saying I don't have access.  So, if 
you 
can save the as the torrentspy XL, it would help.  Another thing to try is to 
see if 
your phone can access the feed.  Here you would take something like 
operamini.com (a 
J2ME app) and try the feed there.  If it does not give an error, then on your 
desktop save the feed as a file in IE or your favorite browser and attach to a 
comment.  Also, given that you were able to access the OPML, can I start a new 
issue 
based on the torrentspy feed as it is a different issue from OPML?  Unless, you 
do 
edit feed and see that the URL contained is incorrect.

Hi,

Another user found a bug with the import where if a line has <outline(new line) 
it 
does not import these.  In other words if the <outline is at the end of the 
line, 
they are not imported.  I'm not sure if the same problem that you had, or not.

I have not heard back on this for over a year, so I'm assuming that it is 
either 
fixed or not a problem.  I will re-open if someone else finds a problem.  This 
may 
be related to the problem with <outline followed by new line.  This is listed 
as a 
separate issue which will be tracked there.
