Thanks for submitting this problem. This may be due to a bug in the phone's
Jave
ME's Virtual Machine. I see a similar problem with Sony Ericsson W710i. Would
you
be willing to try a beta version with a workaround for this?

Shure no problem, I'm willing to test a beta. Sorry for using an old phone but
the
older version of the RSS reader worked fine. Can I help you in any other way?
I'm
working at Sony Ericsson for the moment:)

Hi,

Can you go to settings for RSS Reader near the bottom and tell me what it says
for
Phone CLDC? Also, what does it say for phone JSR-75? Also, when you hit exit,
do
you see the message "Are you sure that you want to exit?"

Regards,

Irving

Hi Mikael,

Thanks for responding so quickly. What does it have for phone MIDP on
settings?
Given that you don't get a message when hitting exit, I'll have to do more work.

Regards,

Irving

Hi Mikael,

Have you had time to check the phone's MIDP version?

Best regards,

Irving

Hi
It says: "Phone MIDP version:MIDP-1.0 MIDP-2.0"
I have also noticed that it don't save the feed, all feeds are gone after a
restart.
Is it because I have to restart the phone to exit?
Best regards
Mikael

Hi Mikael,

Thanks for helping out. The save happens in two situations. Upon exit as you
guessed, and there is also save without exit which will also save the data.
With my
Sony Ericsson W710i, it is possible to kill the application without restarting
the
phone. It has a menu key which has a square and sort of an arrow. This allows
you
to either run another app while the current one is suspended, as well as to
kill the
running app. Does the W800 have a similar feature? I plan to post the beta in
a
few hours.

Best reagards,

Irving

Hi Mikael,

I have uploaded a Beta version of what I hope will fix the problems that you
have.
Mobile RSS Reader - Beta1 Version 1.11 latest binaries. I have created CLDC
1.1
versions of the program that I hope will help reduce problems with VM
peculiarities. Please use program
midp20_cldc11_jsr75_beta1_RSSReader-1_11_1.jar.

Best regards,

Irving

Hi
Sorry no success! I installed v1.11.1-2.0-cldc1.1-jsr75-beta 1_b12 as you
recommended but have the same problem.
I have checked up the W710 phone and it it's 2 generation newer (JP7) than the
W800
(JP5). The W800 was the last one with the old browser etc.
I will try it on my K510 too. That model is the generation after W800.
I have also tested it on my Z320 (a low entry phone) and it works fine except
that
it refuse to open the link in the feed, saying it's a bad link.

Best regards
Mikael

Hi Mikael,

Thanks for testing. I've found that I have a phone on that same platform, the
K750i. So, I will try it this evening.

Best regards,

Irving

Hi Mikael,

I have duplicated the problem on the K750i. It is on the same Java Platform 5
as
the W800. If you can test on other phones, that would help.

Best regards,

Irving

I have identified the problem. The Sony Ericsson JP (Jave Platform) 5 phones
do not
appear to support alerts for confirmation, AlertType.CONFIRMATION. I was able
to
get it working by using AlertType.INFO instead. The Sony Ericsson emulator
handles
it correctly for both K750i and W800, but the actual phones do not. I will fix
sometime today as I put in another fix into the code base.

I was mistaken about the problem. Now, it appears that it is from dynamically
getting the display. However, once I fixed that, another problem came up, this
time
with the N95. So, it might take a few days.

Hi Mikael,

I have posted a fix which allows exit and delete on my K750i. To change the
subject, I just noticed that you said that you had a different problem with
your
Z320. Did you try the same RSS feed that works on the W800, but not on the
Z320?
Also, did you select the Diagnostics menu item to get more info on the error?
Also,
I've found that sometimes a link that gives an error will not give an error on
a
second try.

Best regards,

Irving

Hi Mikael,

If you don't respond in the next 3 days, I will have to release this version
without
confirmation from you that it works on your W800. Given that it fixes 2
serious
problems effecting Sony Ericsson phones.

Best regards,

Irving

Hi
Sorry for not responding. I have tested the last version on the W800 and it
works
just fine. Regarding the W320 the problem is that the browser don't accept the
web
page on the link, so it's not a problem with the RSS reader.

Thanks for the fixes

Best regards
Mikael
