Several problems installing Artisan with Phidget or OMEGA HH806Au #59

I’ve posted twice about problems installing Artisan with OMEGA
HH806AU…Havent’ found a working solution so I tried with the PHIDGETS 1048,
still no success…I might be doing something wrong….

I need your help once again. I’ve tried several things with 2 different
Devices and operating system and so far I haven’t got Artisan to work with
the Device. So it’s a long post with detailled information about what I
tried so we can eliminate some options or potential problems and solutions.
Any info or solution would be greatly appreciated.

My installation is :
-From the Toper Roaster, i’m using an MPI MT4810 device to control the
Roaster temperature. This device uses J type Thermocouple. (See picture)

-I’m connecting the external Device (Omega HH806AU or Phigets 1048) probes to
the MPI terminal, with J type Thermocouple connected to the same port on the
MPI Device where the Toper’s Thermocouple is connected. (see picture)

-Tryed on Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.9.1.

USING OMEGA HH806AU
-I’ve tried installing and uninstalling OMEGA’s driver, in both situation
i’m unable to get it to work with Artisan. (see picture) I’ve also tried
with FTDI driver, still no positive results.

-When using OMEGA’s software, I can confirm the device is connecting to the
computer because i’m receiving data. (see picture). It’s connecting
automatically on COM3 Port. Baud Rate at 19200. When connecting to Omega
Software, it recognizes the Device on PortCom3 at 19200 Baud rate. But when I
look at the computer side on the USB Serial Port i see the Default Parameter
are at 9600 Baud ??(see image). I’ve tried changing it to 19200, adjusting
Artisan accordingly but it doesn’t seem to get different results.

-I made sure the Channel used by the OMEGA HH806AU is « 0 ». I did Cleared
the memory.

-In Artisan, I’m selecting the right Device. Then is gets to the PORT
selection. Everything seems fine according to the Device.

-I’m getting these messages in Artisan : Serial Exception : ser.HH806AU
temperature()@line 20225
or
HH806AU Temperature() :0bytes received but 14 needed.
Or
Serial Exception :Unable to open serial port

USING PHIDGETS 1048
-When connecting to the Roaster’s MPI MT4810 device on the Thermocouple,
it’s mixing up the MPI device showing crazy temperatures…If I swith
thermocouple possition, i get the Message OPEN on the MPI devide, so unable to
control the roaster anymore…

-Even if the Phidgets Software provides good connection info, the temperature
in not realistic. I should get Thermocouple temperature and Ambient. See
picture, Ambient is the right temperature, but Thermocouple is not…Once in
Artisan, see picture, i see the message « Phidgets Temperature sensor 4 inputs
attached » but the TE is at 755 degrees, and TG is -1… ??

-I’ve tried uninstalling Phidgets Software, same problem occurs.

-I’ve tried connecting directly the Roaster’s thermocouples directly to the
Phidgets devices...Still not working ??? It’s direct, why isn’t it working
?

THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE !!! Looking forward to work with Artisan !

Your issues seem not be caused on the Artisan side, therefore, this is not an
Artisan issue and I will reject it as invalid. I will contact you separately
with some suggestions.

In any case, never connect one probe to two devices if you don't want to
retrieve funky values!
