Kingpin is not abandoned. You're obviously welcome to fork, but if you'd like to make improvements to Kingpin, PRs are always welcome.

The problem is while the PRs are welcome and do get merged, they cannot be used via the gopkg.in system as one can only access tagged code. Thus all the contributions made are unusable unless you use github.com/alecthomas/kingpin as package name which in turn causes other problems.

It's not enough to just merge PRs unfortunately.

Tags can happen, just nobody has requested it 🤷‍♂️
