The accepted thing is that the standard settings in XDG should at least be in XDG-CONFIG-DIR (in most cases it points to $HOME/.config)
in order not to clog the home directory. Also, I use $HOME/.config non-standard mounted to tmpfs thanks to ASD (Anything-sync-daemon), this gives a win when using SSD (which increases the service life with regular writes)
