Small changes to disco.py to allow for optional reading of environment variables. Feel free to close this PR if it clashes with Notebook users or any in-flight CSV work you got going on, though!

I'd like to hold off on it a bit.. since I'm deep into doing CSV stuff and it'll very likely clash a lot. Sorry about that. I hope it's working well locally in the meantime though, and you can keep it in your branch.

It's working locally for me in my fork, so no worries! I'll still stay plugged into progress you make and possibly resolve any merge conflicts in my fork on the chance that we can consolidate them in the future.
