I could not find it but a nice feature would be to set a fixed selection area for batch removal of an area from all photos

In case you mean to crop a batch of pictures to the same size, I also needed this feature. However, I found that you can apply a single crop operation to the batch. The part of selecting the area you want to cut is not available (or at least I couldn't find it either). Using a particular example from the set, I imported it into Gimp and manually found out the crop coordinates. Then, I performed the operation twice to crop all the pictures to the same area (not centered nor touching one of the sides). A request for helping with the operation in that concrete case can be seen on issue 316. Hope that this helps! If you have any other question, just ask :)
