MESSAGES are unnecessary and result in some YAML parsing difficulties: #107

MODE is absent from CURRENT and DESIRED: #108

[x] MESSAGSES as sequence
[x] add HeadState.mode
[x] update YAML Schemas
[x] client print messages only when problems - human format but to stderr so as not to disrupt YAML parsing
[x] example_client parse

Entire response and messages are now sent as a sequence, allowing the entire stream to be correctly parsed.
