International v1.3.7 & Tonyhax 1.4.5 Disc One SLUS-01201

Triggered at boot up and Title Loading Starts at raining building scene, goes away once voice starts inside building, skips even with fresh burnt disk at 8x then starts up again every time navigator starts talking

Looks alot like mod chip skipping in LOD title screen looks just like every other anti piracy skipping ive seen.

I Burnt 2 Disc trying get it to go away

alex-free commented 10 months ago

Is this an anti-piracy screen that shows up or something else? I'm not sure what you mean by anti-piracy skipping

Burned this game at 4x speed to CMC Pro CD-R, no issues with sound or skipping on my SCPH-101.

I recommend you buy Verbatim DataLifePlus or CMC Pro discs, the regular Verbatim CD-Rs not branded as DataLifePlus are horrible quality which would result in drop outs in sound during an FMV like this game has when you start a new game. Using a real old CD burner also has helped me, I use a ZIP CD 650 USB burner from 2000.

I have memorex/data life + the new ones I was so happy the way it handled "hart of darkness" opening FMV. But I do have to say castlevania SON runs like crap. I'm happy to try something else, The quality hack dose not run correctly & ive been putting off playing that game until I find better discs.

I did have to crank my laser up quite a bit to get hart of darkness to run good which will burn it up sooner from my understanding. But even an original HoD disc was skipping before I turned resistance down.

The burner itself can also be really important to make burned games work as good as CD-ROMs.

Be really careful with changing laser resistance. If you measured with a multimeter while doing that you already damaged the laser because of the electricity from the multimeter itself.

Changing the laser resistance is the last thing you should do. Before that following the re lubrication guide on my site should be one of the first as in most cases that is the real issue anyways.

Thanks for the tip! but 99.9% of these disc work perfect alone in the dark & SON (patched) are only issues.

Just a heads up that the verbatim discs in your picture are not data life plus, I'm pretty sure anyways. The burner itself can also be really important to make games work as good as CD-ROMs.

Alone in the dark seems to have a very performance critical FMV (it seems quite high quality, probably one of the best settings) and SOTN has tons of XA audio streaming which is super particular on the PSX. SOTN unpatched should perform just as SOTN patched does too.

No the next set of disc I get will defiantly be your recommended I wish I would have had this information you posted before I ordered these... Im going to try to uses them on games with no FMV & im just going to order some now.
