Hey @MauriaH,

Thanks for submitting. I appreciate your open mindedness with respect to the class and hope you'll gain something from participating.

I'm curious to learn more about your work ate Apple and Ushr. Are/were you in an analyst-type role analyzing remote sensing data? Or more of an engineer-type role building tools to analyze remote sensing data. Or something entirely different?

Looking forward to learning more about your background and working together this semester.

Could you share a bit about the larger MS project you're working on outside of this class?

And before I forget, do you have a general idea about the broad topic/area of interest of your final report for this course? No worries if not since I know it's pretty early in the semester. I've been encouraging students to pick a report topic related to their larger MS project (and relevant to Applied Remote Sensing), but feel free to pick another area of interest.

Best, Alex

Hi Alex,

At Apple my role was essentially to develop workflows for generating data into the map. So, the stakeholders would present an idea they'd want to integrate into the map and I would have to manipulate the data, create documentation and present an overall process to get that data into the map.

The project I'm working on is for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and we are essentially making a web map application cataloging all of the parcels they own and also helping them highlight areas that are impacted by their locally unwanted land use. We'll also assist with providing recommendations for where they should place environmental justice-centered projects in communities that are impacted most by their land use and also are in the highest need of assistance.

I was thinking about doing some sort of NDVI centered project to highlight how much open space is on the parcels owned by SFPUC and also determine suitable building sites.
