Which device (manufacturer, type)?

LG Optimus V

Which firmware is installed?

Stock 2.2.2

What version of wireless tether are you using?

beta 6

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Root with Gingerbreak 1.2; install beta 6.
2. Set profile Optimus S with MSS clamping enabled.
3. Connected to infrastructure network.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Was able to get websites with Win7 & HP Touchpad (yay!)

When I exit Wifi Tether, the phone spontaneously rebooted.

Please provide any additional information below.

Have you tried to disable "force driver-reload" in app-settings?

Looked for "force driver-reload" but can't find it. ?????
Also, noticed that enabling wifi tether w/o tethering to the phone, wifi is
left in zombie state and needs reboot to fix.

Beta 7 still spontaneously reboots after tethering. I thought it was fixed, but
a minute or two later, it rebooted.

OK, I finally found "force driver reload." It only appears with setup mode
Softap.
I was/am using Netd. I get errors in the log with setup mode Softap and no Wifi
signal. Still crashes the phone after tethering.

Beta 9 does not reboot with WiFi driver reload disabled, but the wireless
driver is hosed on exiting tethering. Any attempt to turn on WiFi fails, and in
Wireless & Networks settings it says "Error" under the WiFi power checkbox.

If WiFi driver reload is enabled the phone freezes and subsequently reboots
after exiting tethering.

Ok I have an Optimus S and it(beta 6)would reboot when I stopped tethering in
Netd. After I read this and other threads, I decided to start turning it off by
just going to
applications and force closing. Problem solved! (fingers crossed) I don't
recall it
doing this in adhoc mode but every once in a while in the past few months I
would have
to manually reboot because wi-fi would just show "error" and no amount of
turning it
on and off would fix it. I don't recall if tether had been started and stopped
sometime
prior. Also, enabling MSS clamping seemed to speed up page loads when xp is
tethered to
the phone. (Netd) Hope this helps.

Just loaded beta 9 and it still reboots after tethering.

I used setting-apps to force closing, and it did not reboot, but I get wifi
start error the next time I start tethering. Had to reboot anyway.

Also noticed that beta 9 no longer shuts down wifi when tethering so if I'm
connected to wifi, it tethers to a wifi connection instead of 3G.

I really doubt the WLAN driver vendor tested this mode of operation
(simultaneous station and AP), since it isn't useful. I'm surprised it works at
all, and would be tempted to say it doesn't actually work (doesn't pass
packets), except that I have seen it work.

Could this be the source of reboots?

Have you guys tried the latest experimental version? Chose an
"Optimus"-device-profile from app-settings. You should see in "setup-method" an
entry called "netd". Select netd. Also uncheck "Reload wifi-driver" (this might
solve the reboot-issue).

I think I tried at least pre112, but I will try pre113 later on and report back.

Just loaded beta 10 and it still reboots after tethering.

Performance is much better than before; I can stream video from Hava that would
not even connect before and get NBA League Pass video.

I used Optimus S profile with netd and disabled wifi reload.

After stopping tethering, the wifi power state indicator is dim; clicked and it
went off; click again and nothing happens until the phone reboots spontaneously.

If I turn off wifi before tethering, I can tether and stop w/o the phone
re-booting with beta 10.

But after stopping tethering, I get an error when I turn on wifi and cannot
turn it on until after rebooting the phone.

Like with beta 10, beta 11 still screws up Wifi. When I try to enable Wifi
after tethering, the phone rebooted.

Beta 12 still crashes LG Optimus V Stock 2.2.2 when turning tethering off.
