Droid on Verizon will not generate an SSID that the client machine can find when scanning for available networks?

2.2 kernel 2.6.32.9 
What version of wireless tether are you using?
wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre14.apk  Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre14 *** 
EXPERIMENTAL ***   
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start tether, all seems normal, SU is granted
2.
3.all other WAPs are visable to client but not android tether?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
No SSID broadcast can be seen by client machine

Please provide any additional information below.
Having same issue with barnacle. . .
If this is a config error, Is there a one click solution?

using a stock Droid on 2.2.3, my asus transformer sees the wifi for a few 
seconds, then it changes in the list to being "out of range".
