The open file dialog shows and opens only .tex files. Some classes like KOMA-Script (e.g. scrlttr2) can also use files with different file extensions like .lco and .adr. Gummi should be able to open these, too.
Either they should also be included into the file type filter "LaTeX files" or there should be a filter "All files" or a filter for every single file extension.
