Which addon?

FileGator - Free, Multi-User PHP File Manager

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

In Home Assistant, there is no add-on that allows sharing and managing storage files without modification. Although there is a Seafile add-on, it does not support sharing existing files on the server. When files are uploaded, it becomes challenging to manage and view these files on the server. An add-on is needed that allows direct sharing of files on the server and management of uploaded files, similar to Synology NAS's DS File. It would be great to have an add-on like FileGator added.

Describe the solution you'd like

"Please add the FileGator add-on." https://filegator.io/

Hi, thanks for the request! I don't really have time for the moment to develop new add-ons but have you looked at filebrowser add-on for this functionality?

Hi, thanks for the request! I don't really have time for the moment to develop new add-ons but have you looked at filebrowser add-on for this functionality?

"I have installed and am using the filebrowser add-on. It's excellent for managing files on the server, and I appreciate its lightweight and efficient nature. However, user creation and file sharing are inconvenient. Creating and connecting with other users doesn't work well. While it's great for administrators to manage files, sharing files with other users is challenging, and many features are lacking.

It would be highly beneficial if it had features similar to Synology NAS's DS File, allowing direct management of locally stored files, user creation, user group management, and file sharing.

Although there is a Seafile add-on, it cannot read local files. Uploading files to the server is required, and filenames are changed in the process.

For the nextcloud add-on, while it maintains the original filenames, it also cannot read local files. Sharing is possible only after uploading files, and it's quite slow.

I haven't personally tried FileGator, but I understand that it can read local files and offers features like sharing and user creation, similar to Seafile.

If a FileGator add-on is introduced, it seems like it could serve as a replacement for OMV and Synology NAS."
