I have followed your instructions correctly, and everything installs perfectly. Magento runs as expected.
I then run bin/magento setup:upgrade and magento blows up and needs to be re-installed. The error I get in my browser is:
Fatal error: Uncaught RuntimeException: Can't create directory /var/www/html/generated/code/Magento/Framework/App/ResourceConnection/. Class Magento\Framework\App\ResourceConnection\Proxy generation error: The requested class did not generate properly, because the 'generated' directory permission is read-only.
