Fixed tests for use with Python 3 #10

As part of ticket #9 this fixes the tests to work with Python 3. The tests don't pass yet as the project code hasn't been adapted for Python 3 yet. The tests still run and pass in Python 2.

The tests now pass in Python 2.7, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4.
