Just been looking at the fit-PC3
http://www.fit-pc.com/web/fit-pc3-info/
What you get seems pretty good, but they aren't at a Release Candidate for the hardware yet so there may be bugs. Also the motherboard is quite big, it will just fit in the tube, but you would have to take it out of the casing, which apparently is a bit of a bad idea, it get very hot, which might be a bad idea for us.

We could downgrade to the fit-PC2 which would definitely fit in the tube here's a review http://www.roytanck.com/2009/07/29/fit-pc2-review-the-worlds-smallest-desktop-pc/
Here's another board that looks interesting http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=36
Could get this ssd to go with http://www.ebuyer.com/248352-kingston-8gb-2-5-sata-ii-s100-ssd-read-90mb-s-write-30mb-s-ss100s2-8g
Looks like a Nano-ITX will just fit in at a push, Pico will easily fit in
I've emailed the mini-itx store about a pico itx http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=39

No that particular Atom board is deprecated hardware and no longer sold.
Its the 1.6Ghz but with 2GB of RAM
We need a new PC to go inside the tube. There are a couple of upcoming mini PC's that look interesting the Raspberry Pi for example or the fitPC. We want this PC to be doing some heavy processing like machine vision, Sonar, SLAM, the roboard just isn't cut our for doing all those things so we need a little power house, any ideas guys?
