The following text is taken from the report that the organisers released;

To assist in the recovery of the vehicles in restricted underwater visibility each is to be fitted with a strobe light that will operate continually. These are to be placed on the top of the vehicle, to flash at regular intervals with duration between pulses to be no longer than 5 seconds and for duration of no less than 1 second.

We have some powerful LED's from some sponsors last year. They are surface mount. you will also have to consider power consumption, particularly if you intend on running it from the logic supply. Maybe using something like a boost converter to give them a bit more juice would be good.

Because this board will probably end up being resin cast it can be a custom board that I will do on my PCB router.

Also this is super easy to prototype if your bored, just use the LED on your FireCracker boards!

Done a schematic and unloaded to Dropbox, also included Status LEDs and a reed switch. Someone might want to double check it. Need someone else to build it as I'm not in Bristol. :(

Gareth, can you give the new_strobe_board schematic and board a glance over. If it's fine I'll send it off to spirit today. Gonna do the code for it now.
