Checking the properties of already formatted code #132

How to check the language and theme of a document that is already formatted?

AugustM commented 4 years ago

I'm not the developer, I'm just a user -- I don't think this is possible.

The extension simply performs formatting. It would have to save some invisible metadata to record this information and Google Docs is not very good at that kind of thing except for what is predefined in the GDocs file.

If you are changing themes a lot, you could manually record the info for each block as a comment. That way it stays with the file but you don't need to print it. That also might be a way for the developer to implement a partial answer to your request, to give users the option of recording this info in a comment.

Better, of course, would be for the language and theme to automatically get set from the code block when you open the file and select the block. If he implements the comment suggestion, then he might be able to read the comment info and do that, too.

But I suspect the demand for that kind of thing would be pretty low.

Meanwhile, you can record the info manually, in a comment, if that will help with your task.

I hope this helps, August
