Description

My son and I stumbled upon this project as he is 12 and wanting to have an inhouse alexa like solution. We have got this up and running and he has even created a couple of simple converstaions, but it seems this project is about dead. I'm only saying this because I don't see any major updates in the last year. Am I correct?

This project is leaps and bounds better then the original jarvis and because it can be used offline in lots of ways better than Alexa and Google (at least for offline use). I'd love to see this project getting better especially because it has usable command line menus and such that similar projects (Kaliope) do not have.

Is this going to continue to move forward and be worked on more?

thanks

Hi, The project is not dead, it is mature enough so there is no need to evolve ;-)

Joke aside, I try to help with issues, modify code when required but I have close to no time for that : I did not restart my Jarvis since I moved in October... One good thing is that there is almost no code modification required, most issue are to help people, but not bugs. @wikijm is helping too, and some other from time to time.

New functionalities are missing, yes. @alexylem said to me that he will come back, but this project is missing implication from developers, he can no do everything alone. He succeed to make it usable for everybody, so there is not a lot of IT people using Jarvis, so no contributors. If people with no coding skills want to help, they can try to do Jarvis promotion to find new motivated developers :-)

Hey that sounds fair. My son and I have been playing with this and also with Kaliope. So, far this project is good enough for a 12 year old to use it (My son is 12 years old with high functioning Autism) so that is really cool. I'd love to learn some programming (taking a python course now) to try and do more with this. Ultimately, more plugins would be awesome and more tutorials and incorporating Mary TTS, etc for offline use. I could imagine this being used even in an Inmoov or similar because of the easy to use text menu's and such. Trust me I'm not knocking this, but upon looking had not seen much action like some of the other projects in months so wanted to check. Thanks @Oliv4945 for the clarification.

Food for thought getting more plugins so this becomes more like an Google or Alexa, but that can also be used offline and/or online. I know its asking a lot and we have looked at https://github.com/G10DRAS/RoboCop but it ONLY runs in windows and so are not interested but man if you look at that project it will almost Scare you.
