Create QR codes for subscribers or members #542

We are performing testing with Alf.io to provide tickets for our volleyball team, beside the one day tickets for one game, it would be great to make a QR code that is valid for all events from one Organization so that we can make a pass valid for a certain period or serie of events.

Technicly, I would consider making a range of categories that you then can select for the event so you can select the category where a subscription was ordered for. Next to that I would make an option where you can specify a validity period. Someone pays for a pass and can come to all the events between date A and date B.

An advantage would be that you also can give your members a QR code so that they also can be scanned when entering the venue, in such a way you have perfect numbers for the amount of spectators/attendees.

Hi @gerryvs and thank you for using alf.io!

This is something we'd like to cover with the upcoming v2 (we're working on it)

With the new datamodel it will be possible to define an event with a series of sub-events in it. This can be useful for a variety of events: from a conference hosting workshops to a sport season with multiple matches.

It will be possible to perform the check-in of each pass for each event, and an attendee will be able to enter once on each date.

stay tuned! :)

Hi Celestino,

I think we should thank you and the entire team behind Alf.io for making such a great platform available for the community. I have to admit that it was struggling to get it working as a non developer, but with the help of few colleagues I managed to get it running under docker on a Synology box. Next step I would like to try is to get it running under Azure to make it bit more protected and assure availibitly. The setup I tested is with free tickets for attending a volleyball game offered by one of our sponsors. I liked the system a lot so that we are looking into it to-do some kind of pre-sales for tickets and see if we can hook it up somewhere with a payment provider that doesn't cost more then what spectators pay. We are a club with woman and man team on the highest level in Belgium but approx 600 people who play volleyball with our club are free spectators. And we only work with volunteers as budget is limited :-( Main goal at the end is being able to prove on a decent way the amount of spectators attending a game and with Alf.io we can scan codes when people enter the venue and make a distinction between home team fan or visitor fan. Another idea we have is that our players get each for example 5 free tickets for the game they play to donate to friends or family. I was looking into an easy way doing that. Any tips welcome :-)

When will 2.0 be released ?

Keep up the good work !

Hi @gerryvs ,

on behalf of the team, thank you for your kind words :-)

we know it can be difficult, and that's why we created Swicket, whose primary goal is to help people install/operate alf.io. BTW, thanks to Swicket's customers, in 2019 we'll have the opportunity to launch a new platform free-for-communities where teams like yours can organize their events for free and help us by testing the latest releases of alf.io, so that paying customers can always use a production ready, battle-tested version. If you want, you can create and distribute discount codes and limit their usage. See this issue for more information and also for other available options

it's hard to say. 2.0-M0 (which is already a huge step forward) is already here and you can use it. We hope to release 2.0-M1 by end of 2018, and to keep the pace, in order to deliver 2.0 by mid 2019. Let's see if we can make it :-)
