(Say hello, thanks, please, may help me to consider your request)

Any problem with existing icons ?
Hi - Icons are amazing so far, love them all.
Have a suggestion for new icons ?
I need some very boring numeric icons. 1-10 in red yellow blue and green.
Yawn. I know. Any suggestions?
Thankyou
Rebecca

Hello Rebecca

Lots of people actually want the numeric icons.
Let me undestand something : you just want the number with the colored
background ?
not the icon (like Factory) with a number, because I would need to create the
existing 150 icons by 10 : 1500 icons :)

1-10 for each color : 120. Ouch. We will start with the colors you want :) red
yellow
blue green.

Fine this way?
Let me know

Yeh just a plain old colored circle with a number in the middle. Or the
teardrop type
icon Google have already, numbered and in different colors. And yes, Red Yellow
Green
and Blue. Very basic.
I'm guessing it is very laborious for you and if you don't want to do it then I
totally understand!

1-10 for each color. So 10 x 4 colors is 40 icons. Unless my math is worse than
I
thought....

I don't know if I will be able to do them soon but here we go, I know some site
that
already have the "red google balloons" from 1-99 :

Look :
http://www.geocodezip.com/mapIcons/marker5.png just change the number before
.png.
Unfortunately, he doesn't provide other colors :(

Maybe we should do another sized set Nico? One that's more narrow, but keeps
the
style we are already using? If we can agree on a format I'll help you do them,
it's a
lot of work. If we do 100, the standard size will be just fine. If we do double
digits, we can make it smaller and if we do only singe digits they can be even
smaller. Here are two suggestion for a templates. I know we can't use these
one, they
are just dummies to try sizes. I have used Arial Black 11px high, that was
probably
not smart, we should probably go 10 or 12px to fit the number correctly
centered in
the icon. I have used smooth edges, as you can see. Thoughts on this?

Hello Matthias !
I don't really agree with 2 differents sizes for single & double digits.

Going to a smaller sizes for numbered is a smart move although :)
Give me a moment to think about it, it's not my priority right now.

These are great! Thankyou. And just what I was looking for and no doubt what
many
others hoped for too.

Just to be sure : 1 and 20 are just an example :)
There are only 2 numeric icons made at the moment.

Give us a couple of weeks to create everything else.

I found this great library of "lettered" (A to Z) icons :
http://www.benjaminkeen.com/?p=105

They aren't the same colors as our current project, but 260 free icons are
always
welcome !

I found the perfect tool to create numeric icons.

See the help on the page :
http://code.google.com/p/google-maps-icons/wiki/NumericIcons

You can enter an URL with the text, and the color you want, then you have the
icon.

Matthias, what do you think of my first two colors of numeric icons :
http://code.google.com/p/google-maps-icons/wiki/NumericIcons

May I continue with other colors ?

Thanks Nico, They're perfect. Good work & much appreciated.
Now for the silly question....Do I have to host them on my server to use them on
google maps?

Hi Rebecca,

Not a silly question at all! In fact we've had it before so we created this
page to
explain how to add the icons to your own My Maps in Google Maps. Hope it
explains how
to do it good enough?
