Starting ubuntu 12.04 a new method of DNS management is used: http://www.stgraber.org/2012/02/24/dns-in-ubuntu-12-04/
The script disables resolve conf by editing resolv.conf directly and removing the symbolic link. That should be fixed by adding entries in /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail
