Schelling Point: DAO Templates and Projects

The Algorand Foundation is looking for templates projects can use to implement frequently used DAO mechanisms. It’s important to show how you can configure these DAO templates to make it easier for projects to implement them. This can include a combination of smart contracts, smart signatures, and Algorand Standard Assets.

Alternatively, you can also design a new DAO project that adds value to the Algorand ecosystem!

Prize Bounty

Multiple winners possible per bounty. Individual developers can win up to 7,500 ALGO or equivalent in USDC (based on the 30-day average ALGO price) if they live in the US. Winners can apply for a grant to support ongoing work or participate in one of the upcoming accelerators.

Resources and Inspiration

Choice Coin is an existing DAO project that provides templates and examples - you can draw inspiration from this project
Choice coin voting DAO tutorial and another Choice Coin voting tutorial using Python SDK
Example of a DAO project: AstroDAO
Idea: DAO to manage funds for buying/selling NFTs and appointing "fund managers"

Submission Details

You must complete both steps:

Submit your solution via this form
Submit a link to your GitHub project on Gitcoin (Use Start work and then Submit work)

Your GitHub project must contain a README that explains configuration parameters, deployment steps, and shows possible configurations that are useful for projects.

Projects will be reviewed by Algorand team members and external experts. The winners will be announced within 7 days (18th of February, 20220) via an article on the Developer Portal and Twitter announcement.

Submission and Quality Criteria

Submissions are evaluated based on their value for the ecosystem and developers. The Algorand team will use the following criteria to evaluate submissions:

Product features
Versatility of your DAO template
User experience
Documentation, examples, demo, and extra media like a video walkthrough
Value for developers or projects
Complexity of DAO mechanism

Other Requirements

Taking this bounty task means you have agreed to our Bounty Agreement terms and policies.
All project codes should be published on GitHub, with MIT license or Apache V2 license.
All contributions/PRs to public (Algorand) repositories should be open source and should follow the contributions rules of the relevant repository.
All non-codes documents should be using Markdown format.
In the project description or repository readme, there should be a proper security notice. E.g., it should tell the visitor the project is not audited and should not be used in a production environment.
You are not eligible to receive additional rewards via content bounties.

Creating backend-focused templates for rolling out a DAO using ASAs and smart contracts, trying to mix standard expected DAO features with some others that take inspiration from Algorand's feature set. 3) iphyman has started work.
