RTX 3060 Ti on Windows is hanging at Loading Predictor and camera window freezes #349

Hello, I have Windows 10 installed an tried to install avatarify. The setup worked well, except for one python error:

ERROR: pip's dependency resolver does not currently take into account all the packages that are installed. This behaviour is the source of the following dependency conflicts. mkl-fft 1.2.0 requires numpy>=1.16, but you have numpy 1.15.0 which is incompatible.

but I fixed it with uninstalling numpy 1.15.0 and installing numpy 1.19.4. If I try to run avatarify with run_windows.bat it stucks for more than 20 minutes at "Loading Predictor". Sometimes the cam window pops up, but it is always freezing. I waited a while but nothing happened. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 Processor, a RTX 3060 Ti, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a B450 Mainboard. I also tried it with the windows app, In the task manager I see that Avatarify is running, but I see no window. I waited for 40 minutes and then there was a window. But when I selected an avatar, It freezed and nothing more happened. Please help me or fix this error.

Thank you for your attention!

Experiancing exactly the same issue on another RTX 3060 TI (W10). For the numpy part I just switched to using numpy 1.16.0 but still don't get past the "Loading Predictor" bit. waited over 20mins and I can python tasks running but using very low CPU, RAM and GPU.

Any additional steps or triaging would be helpful, Thanks

It is a known issue that Avatarify currently doesn't work on RTX 30 series graphics cards. We are trying to solve it, you can try the suggested workaround here meanwhile: https://github.com/alievk/avatarify/issues/336#issuecomment-760728696

alievk commented 3 years ago

You can also switch to 30x-series branch and run installation script again. This would fix numpy issue and freeze.

git pull -a
git checkout 30x-series
scripts\install_windows.bat

@JohanAR @alievk I actually tried the 30x branch shortly after posting this and that solved the issue. For some reason the steps in #336 didn't work for me though. Sorry for posting on a duplicate issue.

Thanks for your work on this @alievk it's a great tool

alievk has pushed a commit with updated dependencies, which hopefully fixes issues with RTX 30 series GPUs (#350). Please pull latest master and try again if you were having problems when using these graphics cards.

my camera keep freezing too, it doesn't run smoothly. I am on RTX 16 series. Please i need help

JohanAR commented 3 years ago

@darellwest do you mean GTX 16 series perhaps? This issue is about a compatibility problem which only seem to affect RTX 30xx cards, so your problem is most likely unrelated. Please check if there is another issue describing your problems (same symptoms, error messages, hardware, etc), and if not open a new issue where you describe your issue as thoroughly as possible.

darellwest commented 3 years ago

@JohanAR yes GTX

My guess is PyTorch 1.7.1 having troubles with older GPU models. @darellwest try rolling back:

cd avatarify
git checkout 0ca3677d98d923152b66a9432db0225253437476
scripts\install_windows.bat
run_windows.bat

FWIW I have a RTX 3060 Ti and Windows 10 and it works for me

//Edit: I'm guessing I'm using a newer version of the code than you were 6 days ago.

JohanAR commented 3 years ago

@marcel-burkhard the fix for this issue was pushed to master 4 days ago :)

I think we've had sufficient confirmations that it's working from 30xx owners, so I think it's ok to close these issues now
