Yes I saw this report from another user. It must be the image size property as
I only added that property in last version for Canon. Probably the 650D has
more options for that property then the 550D.

Just a question did you maybe set the S2 or S3 image quality?

Yes, I think that is the case. I have Canon crash log file but it is
specific to Canon firmware and it shows assertions...

Probably that coused the error, I checked the 550D manual and there is no S2,
S3. I removed those 650D specific settings and will be displayed only for 650d

So, could Dashboard use a query or lookup table for allowable values for
attached camera and disallow illegal values? I was surprised that the app
was able to write to Canon ROM firmware.

For that property not. Actually the camera would not allow to write a value
that is not supported or that would put it in some error state but seams this
is not the case with Canon and the image quality settings.

This just happened to me on my 7D. I'm pretty sure it happened when I tried to
select a smaller JPG size. Obviously am VERY unhappy about this. Any
suggestions?

The developer says he fixed this for the 550d but I guess not for the 7D?
What worked for me was to go back and connect the camera to the phone/tablet, start the app, turn on the camera, have the app take over control of the camera, and then in the app settings, make sure you have selected a "legal" correct jpeg size for your camera... that cleared out the error code and allowed me to regain control of the camera. Then, in the 7d camera menu, just to be safe, set it back to all of the original default settings.

I removed the S2, S3 JPG image settings that are valid for 650D. Not sure what
image settings caoused the error.

For anyone else with this issue and a 7D....I got out of ERR 70 mode with the
help of a thread on AstronomyForum:
1./ remove battery & Lens
2./ remove CF card
2.1/ Put battery back in. (Leave Lens off)
3./ Put camera in C1 (C2 & C3 didnt work)
4./ turn camera off
5./ turn setting to CA
6./ Turn Camera on
7./ Turn Camera to new (any) setting
8./ Should then be out of ERR 70.
I then did a 'clear all camera settings' for good measure. Pretty nasty scare.
Should definitely remove any quality sizes for the 7D that are not compatible.

I have this exact problem with my canon EOS 500D. Have someone solved it?

I habe the same Problem. Tried DslrDashboard today and now may 1dmk4 only shows
"Err 70".
Any ideas what I should try before I send the camera in for a probably
expensive repair? The 1D has no C1(/2/3) mode.

Had this problem while first trying to connect my 5D MKII. Wireless didn't work
at first, so I then tried directly through USB. That worked but appeared slow.
While fiddling with the settings I chose the smallest JPEG mode and from then
on camera went into Error 70. C1 restored it, did CA too but I don't think it
was necessary. Thanks, I was started to sweat thinking I bricked my camera.

Oh, and after that, wireless worked as well, but not until I used DSLRDashboard
through USB first.
