[Feature request] Multi-room scene?

Hi,

Nice simulation platform! I wonder if you have plan to add multi-room scenes? If so when can we expect the multi-room scene to be released?

Hey @KaixiangLin,

There is definitely interest in it! Ideally, the solution would be modular enough such that rooms could be interchanged, generating hundreds of unique rooms with different configurations. But, there is no ETA on such a solution.

For now, there are 5 full multi-room scenes that exist publicly on the households branch. It’s a bit behind master, but shouldn’t be too hard to catch up, if this is enough. These were each assembled manually, which is why there are only 5.

Also, another group independently used AI2-THOR to build multi-room scenes, out of the existing rooms, for Audio-Visual Navigation. But they haven’t released it publicly.

I wasn't sure whether to reply here: https://github.com/allenai/ai2thor/issues/244 or in the thread I'm currently using.

I would like this feature as well, but I assume that if it is important to me, I should probably contact the other group that made this independently or catch the "households" branch up myself?

We now have support for many multi-room scenes! Checkout ProcTHOR and the ArchitecTHOR section of the ProcTHOR paper :)
