Codebase contains depricated code? #12

Huge amounts of the codebase seem to be depricated, but the docs are unclear on this front. Help?!

Believed to be a known issue, due to design decisions in the initial implementation there is now a severe case of 'dependency hell'. This has made it extremely difficult to remove unused code at the moment as it threatens the stability of critical systems.
