Only index page is working the rest i get a 404 #1

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. added the database
2. installed the website
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

the index page is working the rest of the pages are not working am getting a 
404 error

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The OS is Linux Mint 13 , am using the v2 final

Please provide any additional information below.
