unexpected presence of GO terms #63

Open turbomam opened 5 months ago

turbomam commented 5 months ago

The Artificial Intelligence Ontology is considering importing some terms from SWO

In fact, our earliest releases have imported all of SWO, but the presence of terms like 'kinase activity' is at least aesthetically concerning. We have also unsuccessfully tried to extract subsets of SWO with ODK.

This kind of thing is common in OBO ontologies that make Full the default. We are recommend everyone makes a Base ontology release. This is easy with ODK

Thank you very much for pointing this out. We do have a base file generated at https://github.com/allysonlister/swo/blob/master/swo-base.owl - Does this file solve your issue @turbomam ? If not I can look further.

Can you make

http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/swo/swo-base.owl

redirect to this (or the github raw version of it).

We can do this PR if you like

https://github.com/OBOFoundry/purl.obolibrary.org/blob/master/config/swo.yml

(while I'm looking at this including an .obo version will increase uptake among many users)

Sounds like a good plan. I'm in the ELIXIR AHM today (virtually) so it's likely I won't get started until later, FYI.

I'm afraid that I didn't get the chance, as planned, to do this work yesterday, though it remains at the top of my list. I do hope that you are able to use the base file in the meantime.

Thanks!
