Random blank screen rk30-lcdc #23

Open warpnine opened 10 years ago

warpnine commented 10 years ago

I'm having this problem where the screen blanks out for 1-2 seconds at random. I have tried switching the power adapater for a more powerful one, this one I'm using now has a capacity up to 10A. I have also tried powering it through the OTG port.

Tried to disable DPMS and screensaver.

It seems that everytime the screen blanks this event comes up: rk30-lcdc rk30-lcdc.1: blank mode:0

The funny thing is when I for example play audio I notice that it sometimes breaks off, so it must be the HDMI communication that is wrong. Because I see the same event in dmesg when it happens.

This is what I can see in dmesg:

I have tried changing that and only powering the device through the OTG-port. Same problem..besides there are other users who are experiencing the same problem.

mlck commented 10 years ago

It is missing from the issue description that this happens with the MK908 v3. AFAIK it's using other DDR and GPU frequencies as usual, maybe this might be the reason?

warpnine commented 10 years ago

I should have added that info. I'm using a MK802 IV (RK3188). I read that someone on the IRC-channel #linux-rockchip used the latest Rockchip SDK kernel and didn't experience this problem.

tobrcz commented 10 years ago

+2 Me and my colege bought yesterday mk902 16GB and the same problem on both our 2 minipcs on 5 different monitors and TVs. Blinking every 2-8s. Lost of signal. Original android rom is ok. From what I have read so far, problem is with new minipcs. mk908v5, new mk802iv, mk902. All those machines have probably new 3188-T instead of 3188, can there be a problem? p.s. android rom MK802IV New Wifi Chip AP6210 - Neomode Custom Rom Version 1.0 is blinking as well. I am back on original android.

I have bought 2 MK802IV from DX.com and all of them wears 3188-T. And i got blinking screens.

Every 30 seconds... did you change your xorg file? Can you post /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

warpnine commented 10 years ago

Well I used this in my xorg.conf

Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "ServerLayout0" Option "StandbyTime" "0" Option "SuspendTime" "0" Option "OffTime" "0" Option "BlankTime" "0" EndSection

I also checked on the settings and manually disabled DPMS.

rdavenpo commented 10 years ago

Try kernel config with CONFIG_LCDC1_IO_18V and CONFIG_LCDC0_IO_18V disabled. Worked for me, but I also need to set fb0 screen blank to 0 in rc.local or I sometimes don't get HDMI output at all.

echo 1 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank

xinux87 commented 10 years ago

rdavenpo

can you upload your kernel file please? Thanks!

rdavenpo commented 10 years ago

Try this...

https://github.com/rdavenpo/Linux3188

Just FYI - that kernel is undervolted and overclocked to 1.7GHz, sorry I forgot. I haven't had any issues on my 3188T @ 1.7GHz, but hardware can be different of course.

not working :((( Too bad... :(( the two settings were done but it seems not booting...

I did another test, just now... The led is not lighting up, I plugged it maybe 1-2 minutes ago and still nothing on my screen. I did a full install of picuntu, modified /etc/rc.local while it was blinking), verified that it was being launch (chmod +x), installed just your kernel using the Picuntu 4.5 flash rom tool and unselecting everything except the kernel and selected your kernel.

My tv is showing No signal since boot... dunno what to do next :(

I will build a stock kernel with just the 1.8V change, no power or clocking adjustments.

Can you boot with the stock kernel? Do you just have the blinking video issue?

Mail me a kernel log from a stock Picuntu kernel boot and I'll check it out.

You just want me to send you the dmesg of a running picuntu ? Just to let you know, I'm using that kernel:

Mail me a kernel log from a stock Picuntu kernel boot and I'll check it out.

I posted a new TEST kernel without clock/voltage changes. This might also fix the setcap/getcap issues with using WLAN0 without root permisisons.

The kernel wasn't compiled with EXT4 XATTR support, so the workaround of using SUID bit is used on programs like ping.

Let me know if there's any issues. I might need to rebuild from clean if there is. https://github.com/rdavenpo/Linux3188

It didn't boot at all, got no signal on the tv... I did boot on picuntu 4.5 with the special kernel,

I applied the

echo 0 > /sys/classes/graphics/blank

Flashed your kernel

Rebooted, no screen... :(

Oh I'm jealous! I almost bought one but it's too wide for my project. Won't fit in a plane. Maybe in a few months...

Sorry the kernel didn't work for you. I would have to get a KGDB hooked up over serial or kdump from you somehow to solve that one.

What kind of plane do you drive? :))) hehehe

Cannot provide you with that kind of info... sorry, I don't have the kind of stuff or serial connection to it.

Do you have the source for the Finless Rom 1.7a from Bob, I know it's kernel is working... it would really just be of relaxing the security on that kernel... Maybe I,m asking for too much of work but I would really like to know why we're always trying to try from scratch to build a kernel...

Really TY for all your works and I'm gladly to help if I could.
