This is most likely NOT an issue of saned.
One of the reason, why lightdm is not starting is because of the permissions...
You can manualy fix this by giving this command
sudo chmod -R 777 /var/lib/lightdm/
sudo chown -R lightdm.lightdm /var/lib/lightdm
Reboot and it should work.
Please confirm your experience.

I have tried to run those commands as you indicated a few times but the same
problem occurs.
* Stopping save kernel messages
saned disabled; edit /etc/default/saned
(it stops right here)

i meet the same issue,but it stops at "saned disabled; edit
/etc/default/saned",i can't quit from that state,so i can't come back to
command line to chmod or chown lightdm.
