Connecting via bluetooth freezes computer #7

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the app
2. Change connection type to bluetooth and click "connect nxt"
3. Choose NXT from bluetooth list and connect it
4. The box closes, and the "connect nxt" button stays blue.
5. The computer entirely freezes, and the only way out is to restart.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The program should connect to the NXT, but instead the computer freezes.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 2.0. Mac OSX 10.5.8

Please provide any additional information below.
It works fine if I connect with USB, but as soon as I do with bluetooth it
freezes. Doing this for robotics class so need it fixed soon!

Odd that the whole computer should freeze, I can't think of what I do that
would cause a system wide freeze. I do not have a 10.5.x machine anymore to
test with, so solving this might be a bit difficult. After restart, do you see
any messages or crashlogs in the console (/Utilities/Console.app) relating to
bluetooth or NXTBluetoothBridge that would indicate a cause? Also, is there
any possibility of running on a newer version of the OS, or a different
computer to try and see if there is something specific to the machine, the OS,
or something else? Also, is this a PPC mac or an Intel?

I don't see any error messages. I don't know much about console but every time
I open it to check it crashes. Its a intel mac, like the white
iMac. I don't have any other OS or computer to try it on, because I'm in
robotics class and this is the only mac in the whole room. I've tried it a
bunch of different times under as many circumsatnces as I can, but nothing
works. I've deleted it and reinstalled it many times.

If Console.app is crashing, than there is very likely a problem with your Mac
that goes beyond NXTBluetoothBridge. Unfortunately, since it is a school
computer, you will (most likely) lack permission to do much of anything,
including the common diagnosis/repair techniques. You might check with your
schools computer administrator to see if he can help you get at crash logs for
the system, or for NXTBluetoothBridge that would help me.

If the USB is not a good enough solution for the time being, and you have a
Windows computer in the lab, you can try the alternate software for windows
available from http://www.norgesgade14.dk/networkserver.php (I have heard it
does not work on Windows 7 as a warning). I am sorry I can't be much more help
with this, but unfortunately without a way to reproduce or diagnose what is
going on, I can't know whether its something I can fix.
